Making Apparel Beautiful and Effortless. Tell us what it means to you?
Beautiful and effortless means designing with intention and editing with discipline. When the silhouette, fabric and function align, the result feels natural and never overworked. That balance is at the core of how we approach design at MABE.
Who is MABE?
Led by founders Amanda and Kirstine, with clearly defined but deeply collaborative roles. Amanda is the designer and creative force behind the brand. Kirstine leads the commercial side of the business.
We love this Spring Summer collection. Was there any particular inspiration which gave it direction?
For SS26 embroidery and floral prints set the tone. We worked with lightweight fabrics, whether it’s a relaxed top of softly structured embroidered jacket. The floral motifs add a playful touch and the embroidery brings texture and craftsmanship. The colour palette was chosen to feel sun-washed yet rich.
Production is in India and the collection seems completely entwined with Indian craft.
Absolutely. This collection is deeply rooted in Indian craft from embroidery to the delicate fabrics we use. We collaborate with female factory owners who bring incredible skill, experience and attention to detail to every piece. But working with them is about more than production, it’s a partnership. Their expertise shapes the collections, allowing us to celebrate traditional techniques in a modern context. We feels it’s essential that our design is entwined with the hands and stories of the people who make it.
This is a one collection a year brand. With every other brand going to 4 or 6, and sometimes more, drops per year (with Pres, Mains, Resorts, Highs and Holidays) can you explain your rationale for this approach.
We choose to work with one collection a year because it allows design, craft, and sustainability to lead the process. Every garment has time to be fully realized, from concept to final stitch, without compromise. Fewer delivery drops mean less waste and a more considered approach to fabric and production, which benefits both the people who make the clothing and the planet. For us, intentionality is at the heart of MABE, and releasing one collection a year ensures each piece is meaningful, wearable, and made to last.
We’re having a real feeling for embroidery this season, and we’re delighted to see you share the enthusiasm, what do you think has driven this trend?
Embroidery adds texture, personality, and craftsmanship — qualities people are craving in clothing today.
Why do you think MABE has found such a firm following at The Hambledon?
MABE has found a strong following at The Hambledon because our pieces are design-led but approachable. They’re elegant, detailed and made to be worn in real life. People respond to the craftsmanship, from embroidery to prints, and the fact that every item carries a sense of story and intention. It’s a partnership that feels natural, because our values around quality, timelessness, and thoughtful design align with the ethos of The Hambledon.
The MABE Project runs at The Hambledon from 28th March until 24th May. Everything is available both in store and online.
