Nigella, also known as Love-In-The-Mist, for its delicate flowers appearing out from its gauzy fronded foliage, is an absolute must in the cutting garden. This variety is pure white, with dramatic plum coloured seed pods that keep their colour even when dried.

It ticks so many boxes; it's easy to grow, self-seeds, and with successional sowings, you can have continual supply from late spring through to the frosts. The seed heads make excellent textural filler for bouquets, and are perfect for drying.

Directions: You can let these self seed and move the seedlings around in Autumn to overwinter where you'd like them to flower come Spring. You can then direct sow every two weeks from early spring. They would benefit from thinning, but Alma Proust never do and they handle it very well. Very low maintenance.
