Benjamin Pollock's Toyshop
In 1865 in Hoxton, East London, Benjamin Pollock inherited his father in law's Theatrical Print Warehouse, printing toy theatres from copper plates, "a penny plain, twopence coloured". Following the death of Mr Pollock, the business moved to Covent Garden and found a new audience amongst the acting fraternity. Customers included Laurence Olivier and Ralph Richardson. These mini cardboard stages are perfect if you have a budding John Gielgud in the house or fancy giving your children a taste of life on the boards.
