Van Verre
Bordallo Pinheiro, a famous Portuguese satirical cartoonist in the late 19th century, was also an acclaimed ceramicist. Inspired by the shape of cabbage leaves, he designed this iconic tableware in 1884 and was met with immediate success, causing the collection to become a key example of classic art deco design and important part of Portuguese cultural heritage. The cabbage leaf dishes are still cast in traditional molds and glazed by hand. In close collaboration with Bordallo’s workshop, new designs have been added and the tableware can now be used in both microwave and dishwasher.
