Based in London, but selling out of New York, we feared we could never justify the trip to NYC to see the collection. But Zoom has made transatlantic voyagers of the buying team and we are delighted to have Naya Rea in the Hambledon stable. Born and raised in Siberia, her designs draw on the folklore, colours and textures of her native country. But don’t imagine an exercise in national costume, this is proper fashion design: beautiful, whimsical, interesting. Some production is, remarkably, in Ukraine.
The Main Autumn collection is a celebration of patchwork and embroidery, played out in a palette of pink and black with touches of mustard and red. We love the pretty florals on the pieced dress. Key piece is the madly tiered Greta dress and the Noemi patchworked coat. Quite lovely.
