Fabric Story: Fleece
Named after super cozy sheep fur, fleece is actually a synthetic product, made from polyester. Nowadays the raw material for synthetic fleece is typically recycled plastic bottles. Once woven the fabric is brushed to give it volume. It is warm, durable, breathable, fast drying and moisture resistant making it perfect for extreme weather conditions. In the early 80s Patagonia were one of the first company's to see the potential of the fabric, launching with first generation fleece, Synchilla.
