Our 20th Birthday Exclusives

We're 20. We're celebrating. We've collaborated with some of our very favourite suppliers on some very special exclusive products to mark our birthday. It hasn't always been easy (ask Lucy) but we are very pleased with the result. Read how it came together.

Rob loves nothing better than having a chin wag with an amenable supplier. His relationships with our menswear brands are so strong that a few phone calls elicited some very positive responses.

First up, Edwin with a 13.5 oz Regular Tapered in Raw, made in the famous Nihon Menpu factory in Ibara, Japan, woven on customised 1920s Toyoda G10 shuttle looms from rainbow selvedge denim from Turfan cotton and featuring our very own leather jacron (who knew there was a special word for this?) marking the collaboration. This jean looks sharp.

Sanders Wilson 20 Anthracite Suede Boot

This is our very first season with Sanders. Founded in 1873 in Rushden, Northamptonshire, this is a fourth generation family firm, supplying top quality, English footwear around the World. And they've jumped straight on board with the whole collaboration thing and produced a dark charcoal suede Wilson boot, with our very own sock foil (again, who knew there was a special word?).

Portuguese Flannel

Menswear wouldn't be Menswear without Portuguese Flannel. Imagine your very favourite Tecca shirt. Imagine this shirt in a slightly heavier weight. Imagine it in a plaid. Imagine that this plaid were a fabric, released exclusively for us and featuring our Hambledon grey as the key colour. I know. A dream made reality.

Revolver/Sunray might have been having a little trouble figuring out their name but they appear to be having no trouble producing the ideal t shirt. Get involved in World exclusive Haleiwa tee in heather grey.

GRP Firenze

GRP Firenze are back in the Basement for AW19 with a bumper crop of winter sweaters, including a Hambledon exclusive custom woven cashmere/merino yarn, knitted into your new best jumper, a super soft Fisherman's Rib.

It's a little capsule collection of specials on the First Floor, but we've hooked up with some of the best.

Pyrus Hive Shirt in Muted Foliage Blue
McNutt Heritage Oatmeal Lambswool Scarf

The very talented people at Pyrus (thank you Ash and Lorraine and Patricia) have designed a beautiful print and made into your very favourite Hive shirt. What could be nicer?

McNutt of Donegal, based in the village of Downings, on Donegal’s Wild Atlantic Way on the West Coast of Ireland, is a traditional weaver. We have long loved their blankets, throws and scarves and a 20th Birthday seemed the perfect excuse to commission our very own McNutt piece.

Alex Monroe

Jeweller of choice up on the First Floor, Alex Monroe, has been working with our in house jewellery fiend Finn on the design of a Hambledon necklace. Based around the Chrysanthemum motif, this is a bar necklace with freshwater pearls, and is a very limited and very pretty edition.

Lucy has put in hours and hours of work pulling together these collaborations. She deserves at the very least a round of applause and large gin but I would suggest a mention in the New Year’s Honours List and a long holiday in a darkened room. Our suppliers are lovely but sometimes they need a little cajoling. Here’s to Lucy and the art of gentle persuasion.

Molly Mahon has her very own self block printed a beautiful purse and washbag. If you’re feeling peckish, definitely get involved in London Borough of Jam’s Chuckleberry (we love a humorous preserve) and The Marshmallowist celebratory Gin and Elderflower Fizz. And if you’re feeling swear (and, Lord knows, we usually are) you can rely on Imogen Owen to produce the goods. This time a Hambledon expletive deleted tea towel. You know you want to.
