All the good wishes all the way up the stairs. Make a garland with natural greenery tied up with green string and tie all those Christmas cards with brightly coloured ribbon.
It all starts with a box. It all finishes with ribbons and bows. Sheets of paper trims, printed on antique German machines (and Lord knows they know how to do Christmas in Germany) in all manner of festive designs: stick them onto lengths of ribbon and drape as, and where, you will.
As a foil for your Boxing Day buffet or scenery for your family Christmas photo (do English people do this?), make an easy backdrop with colourful paper snowflakes (hang them from an old broomstick. We did but it's out of frame).
Who doesn't love a touch of candlelight? Mix and match your sticks and candles for a sophisticated ambience. And don't forget to use the candle glue and the candle sharpener to keep things straight.
If you can’t find the perfect cracker to sit atop your tablescape then why not add some personalised touches to suit your scheme? This is all about embellishment (the making and filling of the actual cracker has already been taken care of. Phew.) Simply select the right shade of ribbon along with some festive paper trims and adorn away. If you’re feeling particularly fancy, get yourself some crepe paper and a needle and thread and add in a rosette as a final flourish.
How we love a theme. And how we love to keep it high brow. We're gift wrapping for some literary characters. And yes, even Scrooge gets a present.
