Getting the Band Back Together:
a Return from Furlough
Most of us didn’t even know what the word ‘furlough’ meant three months ago. Now, even those of
us who don’t work in the missionary or the military business, have first hand experience. This week
we are absolutely delighted to welcome back some too long absent Hambledoners. And we asked
them some questions about their return to work.
I’m sure you are familiar but here’s a recap:
Annie - Womenswear stalwart, assistant buyer and all round stock whizz
Lottie - Womenswear stalwart (I know, it’s almost greedy to have two of them) and perfect people person
Richard - Online Coordinator, Rob’s Menswear buddy and all round good guy
Harriett - VM supremo and professional lovely person
Bella - All round all rounder. Calmly working every department.
Jasper - Gunning for Lucy’s title of Shop Factotum. And Hambledon baker.
I love that I can finally see my work family in real life! There have been some changes in the store and we’ve all had to adapt in some way, its different but I love a challenge. I’m also glad to be back in Winchester I love it here.
I’ve been itching to get back onto Womenswear as we have some really beautiful things in at the moment, I’ve also been wearing just comfies the whole time so it’s nice to see some proper fashion! I’m adding the GANNI (of course) spotty strap dress into the order book 😍 it’s totally mad but I need it!
I live near the sea so I’ve been doing lots of beach walks, gardening just being a lot more outdoorsy. I’ve also been occupied by a puppy during lockdown so I miss her fluffy cuddles in the day.
I’m looking forward to getting my hands on new autumn winter stock and remerching Womenswear. We are always looking at least a season ahead so I’ve had my eye on these things for a while!
Being back in my happy place and seeing our lovely team. 3 months away is too long.
All of Autumn Winter '20. It’s my favourite season and this year’s collections are super lush. And I’m looking forward to the Christmas shop. Lucy always makes it so magical!
We have a new brand called Britt Sisseck coming in store soon. I NEED one of the shirts! Keep your eyes peeled.
Pottering about the garden. And super lazy mornings.
I’m enjoying my brand new flat with its wonderful front garden (AKA The Old Parade Ground) and a very, very short walk to work.
Danton. It’s my favourite Spring Summer '20 collection.
Stussy tees. Any of them. All of them.
I miss hearing the birds in my Cornish garden.
Just seeing everyone together again!
I’m really, really looking forward to our Hay delivery. It’s going to be so much fun to merchandise.
Amy’s dress/Annie’s dress. I regretted not ordering it at the start of the season. Actually I want all the Ganni.
Seeing Ruby (Harriett’s dog) all day and having two cups of tea in bed in the morning.
Seeing everybody. And seeing customers.
The tape. I hate to admit how much of a packing nerd I’ve become but I love the new Hambledon tape (and it’s eco friendly!).
Seed packets because I’ve got really, really into gardening.
Sweatpants!
I'm really enjoying assisting with the online orders and packages and putting my wrapping skills to the test as well as seeing everyone again.
I was probably most excited to see the new Stussy in the basement. They are the kings of a cool t shirt and this season is definitely no exception.
I love a good pair of shorts and have been eyeing up the Danton cord half pants as they as super soft. Can’t decide which colour is better so will have to order both to play it safe.
I miss doing my daily walks. There are so many amazing things on my doorstep, it was great to disconnect and get some fresh air whilst enjoying the sunshine.
