Victoria Suffield, The Hambledon's Queen and Leader

Who is mostly just very extremely excited to have all the kids home! And is looking forward to a mince pie or two with brandy sauce. Sauce not butter.

Best Gift to take to a Dinner Party?

Is it tactless to take an Antoinette Poisson Dinner Party book? I'd hate to be served the same supper on a subsequent occasion.

Best Gift for Christmas Party Hosts?

Definitely a scented candle. And definitely brand new DS & Durga Tomb of the Eagles. You can't not love that smell. And a box of Indoor Fireworks just to be silly.

Best Present for Someone you don't know?

I'd be inclined to give the Imogen Owen tea towel, just so they know where they stand with me. But, if I'm being safer and more tactful, I'll give a McNutt scarf for a she and David Hepworth's Rock and Roll A Level for a he.

Best Presents for your Nearest and Dearest
ie Mum, Dad, Husband, Wife, Sister, Brother?

Danton Fleece Jacket for Hal, Danton Taffeta Vest for Theo and a Ganni cardi for Mercy. Phil can have a new pair of Gramicci pants. An Epice scarf for my mum and some Vintage List glasses and a copy of Noble Rot for my dad.

Best Present for Kids?

I Just Ate my Friend. It's incredibly dark and funny. Sort of like the book equivalent of a Pixar movie, works for everybody. And if a book's too worthy, a Petra Boase print.

Best Present for Secret Santa?

My Tiny Atlas. I think everyone has a touch of wanderlust.

The Present you really, really hope to receive?

I'm absolutely impossible to buy for. Ask anyone. If my poor husband would like a handy hint, I'd quite like to have a Soeur handbag.

Your favourite decoration for the tree?

Silver tinsel. I call it Lametta but I think that was from the 50s and contained lead. This isn't and doesn't but is still extremely sparkly.

What Christmas Album are you playing?

Ask a silly question. Songs for Swinging Lovers, Frank Sinatra, even if it isn't strictly absolutely speaking a Christmas album.
