This is still a real family business. Great Grandfather Hyman Moscot arrived in New York from Eastern Europe and sold ready-made glasses from a pushcart on the Lower East Side. Grandfather Sol opened Moscot's first retail shop in the 20s and by 1936 the shop had moved to the corner of Orchard and Delancey where it remains today. Sol's son Joel joined the business in 1951. And Joel's son Harvey presides over Moscot in its present incarnation as purveyor of iconic eyewear. And our quiz of the week is to match these celebrities to their signature frames:
Johnny Depp, Terry Richardson, Justin Timberlake, Leiv Shreiber, Jake Gyllenhaal, Nebb, Lemtosh, Terry, Lemtosh again, Lemtosh again (it's not a difficult quiz).
We don't just have the Lemtosh though. We have lots of frames, sun and optical.
